Our Poker School is going to explain how to play the most popular poker variant, Texas Hold ‘Em Poker. This is the most played game on television, the internet and in tournaments. You can see for yourself that once you enter the lobby of a poker room, the majority of the games would be Texas Hold’em. The most prestigious poker event in the world, “The World Series of Poker (WSOP)” also crowns the winner of the main hold’em event with a $10,000 buy-in, World Poker Champion.
To understand how to play Texas Hold ‘Em Poker, also known as a “Community Card Game” you need to understand the objective of the game, which is, to win all the chips from your opponents. This is when the game ends, where one person has won ALL the chips.
In hold’em, each player is dealt two concealed cards, known as “hole” cards. Five community cards are dealt on the table. The first three are known as “the flop”, the fourth is “the turn”, the fifth is “the river”. All players make their best five-card hand from a combination of their hole cards and the community cards. Players can use one, two or none of their hidden cards (you will see why once you learn the poker hand rankings).
It is highly recommended that you read the below short pages in the below order, before hitting the tables:
